Rizwan Scholars is a project of Air Cdre Rizwanullah Khan Shaheed Memorial Trust, a not for profit philanthropic organization which supports higher education initiatives for young Pakistan. Riz Scholars offers scholarships to academically exceptional but economically challenged young Pakistanis regardless of gender, religion or ethnicity.

Riz Scholars wanted a clean, light-hearted feel to their website whilst at the same time reminding visitors of the various ways in which they can support the cause and the importance of that support. We determined that the home page would likely be the most common point of entry to the site, especially for those not already familiar with the organization, so it was clear that we wanted to make the most impact there.

Upon entering the site you are presented with what is essentially a short summary of all the data contained within the site, highlighting the most important points and displaying them in bite-sized chunks for easy digestion. At the forefront, a strong, hopeful call-to-action overlaid on top of a whimsical illustration that cheerfully communicates the Riz Scholars’ mission. Delving deeper into the site, the information is presented neatly and coherently continuing the simple but elegant typographic treatment and including an effective sub navigation to guide visitors through the site with ease. Not wanting to suffocate the visitor with a dense pillow of copy, we used lots of negative space to help keep each page feeling spacious and pleasurable to browse.

This roomy layout and elegant organization of information combined with a refreshing colour palette, simple icons and a splash of illustrated whimsy resulted in a website that really enhances the Riz Scholars message of hope and worthwhile investment in education.
